Way back in the 1980s and early 90s I did a load of pen and ink comic art. Being entirely self-taught (by trying to copy Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, Charley's War and suchlike) my initial efforts were a bit shit. But I persevered, and my later drawings were passable. I wouldn't have made it onto the staff roster at 2000AD, but I was quite happy with my progress. Indeed, I was good enough by then to contribute my own comic strip Bastard Brigade to the fledgling (and short-lived) British comic FADOOOM! (This is exactly the same first paragraph as appears in the \"inspired by song lyrics\" section. Same genesis I suppose)

FADOOOM! was created by the astounding artist, chorister, chef and skateboarder Josh Sutton<\/u><\/a>, myself and Moose Harris - later to become New Model Army's bass player following the departure of Stuart Morrow, bass player in the Damned from 1992 to 1995 and - from 1996 onwards - bass player in Pants<\/u><\/a>. An intriguing trio indeed.

Josh wrote and illustrated a story called Guitar Man which - in retrospect - owed more to Psilocybin than it did to his inherent skill as a writer and illustrator. Moose wrote and illustrated a story called Nick Nasty; a sort of Andrew Eldritch \/ Poundshop Terminator hybrid with a penchant for being, well, nasty. And I wrote and illustrated Bastard Brigade, a story of three renegade Space Marines roaming space being total cunts to everyone. Other one-off strips were added as and when.

Initial runs of FADOOOM! were short, but well received. Unfortunately I don't have any copies of it any longer and most of the original A3 artwork has been missing for decades now. The FADOOOM! covers offered here are either Adobe Illustrator reproductions (by me) or imaginations of what other front covers might have looked like. Should the original artwork ever surface (must check my mum's loft, come to think of it!) I shall add some Guitar Man and Nick Nasty to the arsenal.<\/p>
